The present study aims at investigating how Matthew crafts the image of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. By using redaction criticism and narrative criticism, we show that Matthew has specialize purpose by inserting one more "two blind men" story (Mt 9: 27-31; compare with Mt 20: 29-34; Mk 10: 46-52; Lk18: 35-43). Focusing on such a plot of the Matthean narrative, we will also see how the journey of Jesus is full of hurdles. Furthermore, the plot provides some clues to explain why Jesus intends to be low-key in his ministry.
