In order to understand deeper and more precisely George Kerr (1911-1992)'s mind when he composed Formosa Betrayed, the author used scientific forensics based on at least 4 methods, such as content comparison, origin retracing, historical retrospect, and diplomatic organic studies to research on archives, writings and reminiscences about Kerr for analyzing more objectively. The article introduces first what Kerr once was an American agent acting as vice-consular at Taipei from 1945 to 1947, and secondly, how he described the American government "betrayed" Taiwan. The author will further trace the traps of treaties wording and report editing by Kerr, which aims to lead the readers to disguise and even to hate the Republic of China. Plenty examples of how he manipulated semantic of language against China are discussed in this article as well as the forth coming articles.
