The Traditional Chinese Patterns in the Contemporary Jewelry Design
摘要
The ancient China is one of the birthplaces of world civilization. Its long history and profound cultural precipitation are the great treasures left by our ancestors. And the traditional Chinese patterns are the most beautiful and colorful part of it. For a long time in the past, our ancestors had created many patterns that wish for a better life and auspiciousness. Through the metaphor, comparison, pun, homophone, and symbolism, they had perfectly combined graphics with auspicious connotations. As a social and cultural activity, the contemporary jewelry design is creative, similar to artistic activities. Meanwhile, it is rational, subject to market and technology constraints. This paper will analyze how to combine traditional Chinese patterns with modern jewelry design to create jewelry pieces with local characteristics and modernity.
