Health Capital and Economic Growth: Definition, Model and Mechanisms

摘要

Health is necessary for the survival and development of individuals, enterprises, and even a country. In this paper, I explore the relationship between health capital and economic development. First, I illustrate the definition of health capital and summarize some indicators of health capital in empirical researches. Then I make an easy Cobb‐ Douglas production function model, which regards health capital as important as education capital, to better understand the impact on economic development of health capital. Finally, I discuss the mechanisms.
