Hypotaxis and parataxis are two different organization means and characteristics in English and Chinese. Generally speaking, the mainly syntactic difference between Chinese and English is that English focus on hypotaxis and Chinese focus on parataxis. English emphasizes the integrity of structure and preciseness of grammar. Chinese, on the other hand, emphasizes the integrity of context and meaning. This paper makes a comparative study of hypotaxis and parataxis from their concepts, differences in morphology, sentence relevance and long sentence.
