In recent years, international engineering education has been placing increasing emphasis on developing talents of cross-disciplinary integration, teamwork, and problem solving. Students need to learn to collaborate with people from other disciplines to solve issues in real-life contexts. Hence, this study focuses on inter-disciplinary courses that develop students' teamwork ability and collaborative learning, within a creativity and entrepreneurship course at a national university in northern Taiwan. The subjects were 64 students from 7 colleges. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were implemented to conduct the triangulation for multiple data resources. For quantitative analysis, this study adopted the Teamwork Competency Test (TWCT) developed by Professors Eduardo from Spain and Professor Salas from the Department of Psychology from the Rice University of the U.S. For qualitative analysis, students' learning processes and teachers' observations were collected via semi-structured in-depth interviews. The results show that the students had highest average scores in categories including 〞communication,〞 〞planning and coordination,〞 and 〞feedback.〞 The interviews also confirm the students' excellence performance, and show that teams of cross-disciplinary composition have inspired more possibilities in students' collaborations. Categories with lower average scores include 〞decision making,〞 〞informal communication,〞 and 〞supervision and assessment.〞 Deficiencies in these abilities are assumed to closely related to the natures of the teams and the lack of leadership. Finally, this study will provide directions and suggestions regarding future research and course improvement.
