Learning Smarter Teaching from the Master Teacher-Jesus

摘要

This study explored how Jesus taught 2000 years ago. He lived what He taught, most importantly, many of His great teaching approaches have shown Jesus completely demonstrated the flipped education we are learning to implement in classrooms nowadays. His life was a great example to all His students. Moreover, He demonstrated great qualities of a "Master Teacher." This qualitative study was conducted using interviews. Seven Christian educators who have been teaching more than a decade volunteered to participate in this study. Their students ranged from junior-high to university-level students, as well as adult learners. Four interview questions developed by the author intended to understand their perspective of Jesus' teaching methods and the great characteristics Jesus demonstrated in His approach with His followers. After coding, categorizing, organizing, interpreting, and comparing, it provided substantially insightful and detailed information gathered from their years of teaching experience and faithful spiritual journey. In conclusion, Jesus' wisdom and sensitivities shown to His followers are impressive and benefit all educators who have faith in Christ. Many great qualities that Jesus demonstrated in His teaching, as our interview outcome showed, are still influential and effective. Furthermore, these great qualities do not only reveal qualities a good teacher should have but also reflect key elements underlined in flipped education. This influence, if implemented in today's classrooms, will bring noticeable improvement to teachers' way of teaching and advance student achievement.
