This paper examined the effect of the proportion of elderly population on household entrepreneurial intentions based on the database of the 2015 Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS). The results show that for every 1% increase in the proportion of elderly people, the intensity of their entrepreneurial intentions decreases by 30.8% accordingly; 13.21% of the inhibiting effect of the aging on household entrepreneurial intentions is due to the fact that aging reduces people's risk appetite; basic health insurance in social security moderates the entrepreneurial intention of the aging more significantly than commercial health insurance.
