There are two main variants of the sentence-final particles related to Mandarin le2 in Haikou dialect: [lo^(33)] (嘍) and [lo^(55)] (咯). The word [lo^(33)] (嘍) can be found in all three conceptual domains of content, epistemic, and speech act. [lo^(55)] (咯) is a component of the speech domain. We find that [lo^(33)] (嘍) and [lo^(55)] (咯) have different distributions and co-occurrence restrictions in the epistemic and speech domains. The [lo^(33)] (嘍) is a speaker-oriented component, used to convey the subjective perception or verbal intention of the speaker to the listener. [Lo^(55)] (咯) is a listener-oriented component, marking the speaker's attention and request to the listener.
