Historical Evolution of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the Pathophysiology and Treatment of Pediatric Convulsions: A Research Protocol

Pediatric convulsions are considered a severe and urgent condition in traditional medicine, with historical records referring to similar conditions as "fetal convulsions," "neonatal convulsions," "spasms," "acute convulsions," "chronic convulsions," "epilepsy syndrome," "spasm syndrome," and "epilepsy." These conditions primarily manifest as seizures and coma, among other neurological symptoms. In traditional Chinese medical texts, the etiology of "convulsions" varies across different eras, with physicians having different interpretations and treatments. The definition of the disease may change over time due to factors such as infectious diseases, wars, and natural disasters. As time progresses, the concept of convulsions has expanded among physicians, but this may also indicate a lack of clarity in understanding convulsions. Therefore, this study aims to elucidate the evolution of understanding and treatment of pediatric convulsions by various physicians throughout history. The study will utilize two different database systems, the "DocuSky Collaboration Platform" and the "National Health Insurance Research Database." rough systematic organization and analysis of traditional and modern medical descriptions of pediatric convulsions, we will explore their symptoms, treatment methods, and corresponding symptoms and treatment efficacy in modern medicine. Additionally, we will investigate the impact of external environmental and social events on the disease. is research will employ literature review and data analysis methods, integrating historical documents and modern medical data, to enable traditional Chinese medicine to update its understanding of other diseases more accurately in the era of big data.
