A Study On The Effect Of Computational Thinking Skills On Seventh-Grade Students In Junior High School Using Tablet Teaching Information Educational Micro-Courses

Background: At the end of 2021, the Executive Yuan will launch the policy of "Internet access in every class and tablets for students" to vigorously promote digital learning in junior high schools across the country. It is expected that tablets will become a better learning tool for students in the future. This study hopes to enhance students' interest in learning and cultivate students' computational thinking skills by using tablet computers with the teaching content in the information education micro-course. Purpose: To explore the effect of using tablet teaching information education micro-courses on the effectiveness of computational thinking skills of seventh-grade students in junior high school. Methods: This study adopted a single-group pre- and post-test design, and used the "Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge Test" as a testing tool for students' computational thinking skills. The evaluation was carried out before and after the teaching of information education micro-courses, and the quantitative data were used for statistical analysis. Results: After analyzing the students' scores before and after the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge Test through the t-test, the p value is less than 0.05, which is a significant difference, and the average scores of the post-test are higher than the average scores of the pretest. Conclusions: The use of tablets to teach information education micro-courses has significantly improved the computational thinking skills of seventh-grade students.
