Ellipsis is a common language phenomenon in Japanese, such as subject ellipsis and predicate ellipsis. Ellipsis makes sentences concise and implicit, so the language phenomenon of ellipsis is also commonly used in Japanese literary works, reflecting the characteristics of Japanese nation and Japanese culture. This paper analyzes the meaning of subject ellipsis in Japanese from the perspective of philosophy of language through an analysis of subject ellipsis in the work "Snow Country" of Yasunari Kawabata.
