摘要
본고는 일본 대학의 한국어 교육과 한국학 교육의 현황을 한국어 교육의 기반 형성과 한국학 연구의 심화라는 측면에서 개관하고 앞으로의 성장과 내실을 기하 기 위한 방향성을 가늠해 보는 것을 목표로 한다. 이를 위해 먼저, 일본 대학의 한국어 교육과 한국어학 교육의 양적 측면을 2019년부터 2020년에 걸쳐 실시된 ｢일본 교육기관 한국어 교육 현황 조사｣를 바 탕으로 소개한다. 다음으로는 필자가 몸담고 있는 도쿄외국어대학의 한국학 전공을 중심으로 한 국어 교육 및 한국학 교육의 내용적 측면을 소개한다. 이에는 다른 여러 외국어와 동일선상에 놓일 수밖에 없는 한국 국외의 외국어 대학에서 한국어 교육이 어떻 게 자리매김 되는가 하는 측면이 조명된다. 또한 한국학 전반에 대한 전문적인 교육이 어려운 인적, 환경적 조건을 어떻게 메워나가고 있는지, 학문 후속 세대의 양성이라는 측면에서 대학원 및 교직 과정의 운영 상황이 어떠한지도 다룬다.

This paper aims to overview the current state of Korean language and Korean studies education at the universities in Japan. To this end, based on the "Survey on the Status of Korean Language Education at Japanese Educational Institutions" which is conducted from 2019 to 2020, the quantitative aspect of Korean language education at the universities in Japan is outlined. Next, the education of Korean language and Korean studies at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies is overviewed. This highlights the aspect of how Korean language education is positioned in universities outside Korea, where it is inevitably placed on the same line as other foreign languages. It also covers how professional education in Korean studies in general is making up for the difficult environmental conditions, and what the operation status of graduate school and teachers program is like in terms of nurturing the next generation of researchers.
