Crossing Boundaries and Integration: The Cultural Diplomacy of the Silver Star Art Troupe in Malaysia during the Cold War

In 1971, led by the left wing of Hong Kong, the Performance by the Silver Star Art Troupe in Malaysia not only achieves the purpose of raising relief fund for West Malaysia's floods, but also reflects the symbolic significance of cultural diplomacy. The Chinese government, through the visit of the Silver Star Art Troupe, can realize China's United Front strategy under the political pressure, export of leftist culture, show the image of a friendly country, and establish the alliance relationship in culture, economy and other non-political fields. In addition, through Silver Star Art Troupe as a medium, the symbolic significance of the Third-Worldism of the Malaysian government can be realized, as well as the mutual communication and export negotiation with China. Malaysia's left-wing forces can realize the integration of the left-wing forces in Malaysia and provide the possibility for the realization of the urgent realistic needs of the harmonious society. And the Malaysian Chinese Association can break the deadlock of the lack of support from Chinese associations and the left-wing Chinese and show diverse richness. On the basis of the unification of the discourse power of the Malayan Chinese, the left-wing forces are incorporated.
