With its own characteristics, Leizhou dialect is a variation of Min dialect when it has been spread in Western Guangdong province. It has also been spread overseas following the migration of the people in Leizhou area to South-East Asia. This paper introduces an overview of the spread of Leizhou dialect in South-East Asia, especially in Malaysia, according to the field research and relative materials. It also surveys the phonetic and lexical features of Leizhou dialect in Malacca, and explores the challenges faced in the heritage of Leizhou dialect.
