Parit Jawa fishing village in Johor state consists of residents mainly originated from Jieyang and Chenghai counties in Teochew, China. After more than a hundred years of language interaction, a new form of Parit Jawa Teochew dialect has evolved. This 'new dialect' absorbs both language features of Jieyang dialect and Chenghai dialect, and exhibits a new set of unique language features of its own. At the same time, Yongchun dialect being the language of the largest Chinese sub-group within the local community, also exert certain influences in the formation of this 'new dialect'. This paper records the sounds of two residents from the Parit Jawa fishing village, each from the Jieyang and Chenghai dialect groups, hence analyses the tones, initials and finals of the phonology system of the dialect, and explains the unique variations within the phonology system caused by language interactions.
