马六甲甲必丹制度(Kapitan System)的历史,最早可以追溯至16世纪的葡萄牙统治时期。最初,甲必丹一职是由葡萄牙贵族充当。荷兰殖民马六甲后,开始委任七位不同族群领袖为甲必丹。其中,第一任华人甲必丹由Notchin担任,所任的甲必丹一职是名誉性质。据统计,从16世纪至1826年,马六甲至少有13位华人领袖受委任为华人甲必丹。然而,有关马六甲华人甲必丹的历史研究,因早期面对缺乏文献记载,导致出现众说纷纭。所幸,在近十年,有不少关于马六甲华人甲必丹的史料涌现,促马六甲华人甲必丹历史受到国内外学者的重视。因此,本文将对马六甲华人甲必丹之研究成果进行梳理,并介绍近年来所发掘的新文献,以期能为将来研巧马六甲华人甲必丹历史时,有更为可靠的依据。
The Kapitan System in the Malacca was originally developed during the Portuguese rules in the 16th century. Initially, the Kapitan of Malacca was assumed by the Portuguese aristocracy. After Dutch conquered the city of Malacca in 1641 from the Portuguese, a total of seven Kapitan was appointed from the leaders of different ethnic. Among them, the first Chinese Kapitan was held by Notchin, whose appointment was honorary. According to statistics, at least 13 Chinese leaders in Malacca were appointed from the 16th century to year 1826. However, there were different opinions on the history of Malacca Chinese Kapitan due to the lack of historical materials. Fortunately, in the past ten years, many historical materials about the Malacca Chinese Kapitan have emerged and the research of Malacca Chinese Kapitan has been valued by scholars. Therefore, this article will review and sort out the research results of Malacca Chinese Kapitan and introduce the new historical materials that have been explored in recent years. The above clarification and analysis may be served as a reliable evidence for the future studies of Malacca Chinese Kapitan.
