The Metaverse, a virtual-real integrated space created via the fusion of virtual and physical realities, has emerged as a transformative platform with extensive reach, rapid dissemination, enhanced impact, and intensive interaction. Its application across various human domains holds the potential to revolutionize online communication, collaboration, education, and work. It serves as an excellent medium and educational platform for the promotion and preservation of traditional culture and Xiqu arts. This study leverages the technological communication capacities of the Metaverse to integrate a diverse range of performance-related historical materials, including newspaper advertisements, historical documents, official archives, playbills, records, and oral interviews. By constructing a comprehensive digital curation centered on the historical imprint of five Taiwanese Gezaixi troupes invited to perform commercially in Singapore and Malaysia during the 1960s-where they also recorded albums and broadcasted via local radio stations-the project conceptualizes the "1960s Taiwanese Gezaixi Journey to Singapore and Malaysia" as an immersive time-travel game. The game design features tangible 2D scenes, immersive virtual-real environments, and gamified interactive elements that connect digitized historical performance materials. It aims to virtually recreate collective memories and ethnic cultural imprints preserved in the historical light and shadow. This initiative guides younger generations and the general public to revisit the historical stage of Taiwanese Gezaixi's performances in Singapore and Malaysia during the 1960s.
