Prosthodontic management of flabby ridge using modified impression technique: A clinical case report

摘要

'Fibrous' or 'flabby' ridge is a superficial area of mobile soft tissue affecting the maxillary or mandibular alveolar ridges. It is directly related to the extent of residual ridge resorption and is frequently observed as a characteristic of combination syndrome or in long-term denture wearers because of trauma from denture bases. The literature describes a wide range of options for the treatment of flabby ridges such as surgical excision or sclerosing agents, fixed or removable implant retained prostheses, and conventional prosthodontic procedures. This article presents an impression technique that uses commonly available impression materials and a simplified method for making impressions of denture bearing areas with flabby ridges.
