The Impact of Cognitive Warfare by the Chinese Communist Party on Taiwan as Evident in the Russia-Ukraine War

The Russia-Ukraine War has been ongoing for over 700 days, and the conflict persists. In the realm of psychological warfare, both sides are experiencing changes in their offensive and defensive strategies. Although the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has not directly participated in this war, it closely observes and learns from the operational experience of "special military operations." It actively involves multiple think tank units in analysis, serving as one of the factors for future military actions related to Taiwan in order to enhance the CCP's cognitive warfare capabilities. This article explores the origins and evolution of the Russia-Ukraine War from the perspective of asymmetric warfare. The article explores how both parties engage in cognitive warfare to undermine each other's military and civilian combat readiness and to diminish the enemy's awareness of resistance. Furthermore, the article explores the latest cognitive warfare strategies employed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and provides a comprehensive analysis of Taiwan's security challenges. It also provides recommendations for an effective response.
