清華《治邦之道》簡6言及「芔木百□」之事,但下文卻云「曼生,以(疒次)不成」,其文旨雖然尚可推知一二,惟語義難明。因此,關於簡6此段話,歷原整理者、水之甘、悅園、蕭旭、林少平、汗天山、子居、陳殊羽與劉書宇等學者之考證,可謂眾說紛紜,其主要之關鍵,乃在於「曼」、「(疒次)」二字之釋讀,但其實「芔」、「□」、「以」等字之解讀,亦至關重要。有鑑於此,本文將彙整學界諸家之說,並討論此中所見相關疑義及提出個人見解,包括:一、「芔」字可如字讀,即讀為「卉」,仍訓作「草」。二、如原整理者與學者所云,「□」即「穀」字。其所从形構,疑具楚系文字特色,且與該字部分義訓有關,而在簡文中,則應訓作「糧食作物之總稱」。三、「曼」字可讀為「蔑」,訓作「無」。四、「以」字或應訓作「有」,即「攜帶」、「提攜」等義之引申。五、「(疒次)」字可讀為「資」,訓作「糧」。六、簡6此段簡文可讀為「則卉木以及百穀蔑生,以資不成」,殆「草木以及百穀不生,想取得糧食,這是不可能的」之意。
