The state "(匚从)" had existed from Shang dynasty to the Spring and Autumn period(1600B.C.-476B.C.), which was finally defeated by the state Chu(楚). Its location was approximately equivalent to current cites or countries like Tongcheng(桐 城), Zongyang(樅陽), and Wuwei(無爲). It was called Zong(樅), Tong(桐) or Songyang(松陽) in received texts. However, its history was scarcely recorded and had been neglected for a long time due to its remote location at the north bank of Yangtze River which was surrounded by southern barbarians like Qunshu(群舒), southern Chao(南巢)and so forth. During the late Spring and Autumn period, the state "(匚从)" surrendered to the state Chu(楚), which made its bronze vessels has a strong feature influenced by Chu(楚).
