Anthropometric Measurement of Diaper Size for Older Women

Taiwan has entered an aging society. The number of elderly people who are unable to take care of themselves is rising rapidly, and the number of people who need to wear adult diapers is also increasing day by day. Providing appropriately sized diapers for the elderly is extremely important, and the current literature rarely reports sizing data for the elderly. The purpose of this study is to provide relevant diaper sizes for older women in Taiwan. This study recruited 50 older Taiwanese women as subjects, aged 51-94 years old, with an average age of 76 years old (SD=10.95 years old). The subjects were all residents of Yunlin area. Measure the vaginal dimensions including: hip width, vaginal groove width, ischial tuberosity distance, bed board to anus distance, bed board to urethral opening, bed board to ischial tuberosity distance and bed board to the upper edge of the mons pubis. Research results show that the vaginal dimensions of older Taiwanese women are as follows: hip width 32.70cm, vaginal width 6.20cm, distance from ischial tuberosity 12.15cm, distance from bed board to anus 5.14cm, distance from bed board to ischial tubercle 6.28cm, distance from bed board to urethra The mouth is 12.46 cm, the distance from the bed board to the upper edge of the mons pubis is 18.94 cm, the height is 152.51cm and the weight is 54.01kg.Finally, based on the measurement results, three diaper sizes, S, M, and L, were proposed to provide a reference for diaper design.
