電路板(PCB)是一個非常不顯眼的產品,隱藏在許多電子產品之中,但是所有電子產品都需要有他的存在,才能將產品功能發揮的淋漓盡致,連近期被市場討論最多的台灣之光-晶片也不例外,可謂是電子工業之母,而銅箔正是供應印刷電路板製造至關重要的原材料。 台灣地區銅箔產業的發展與印刷電路板業有著密不可分的關係,從早期1970年代,印刷電路板開始於台灣開枝並逐步形成產業聚落,連帶帶動台灣地區銅箔產業的興起,2000年以後,台灣前10大PCB廠皆前往大陸投資設廠及陸資銅箔企業的崛起,讓台資銅箔產業面臨極大的挑戰,經歷了很長的產業黑暗期,直到2015年年末,全球環保意識抬頭,ESG投資盛行,銅箔產業迎來新的剛性需求,躬逢產品供不應求的盛況,再次使全球投資人將關愛眼神投射至銅箔產業上。 本論文中,我們分析了銅箔產業的商業發展演進、產業應對全球動態市場下所面臨的困難與挑戰,更進一步以某台資企業銅箔製造商當作研究標的,深入探討該企業身處產業內的一員,如何應對整體產業環境的挑戰,並透過SWOT分析、五力分析及C-SOP理論架構由內而外檢視個案本身,探討該企業的發展及轉型策略,達到公司永續經營的目標。
Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) are an essential component contained within nearly every kind of electronic product today. Without PCBs most electronic devices would be unable to function. This includes Taiwan's pride and joy, the semiconductor. Known as the “mother of the electronics industry”, our modern lives depend on the PCB, and crucial to the manufacture of PCBs is the raw material copper foil. The development of Taiwan's copper foil industry is closely related to the PCB industry. In the 1970s, Taiwan began to emerge as an industrial hub for PCB manufacturing, which in turn led to the rise of an adjacent copper foil industry. However, from 2000 onwards, all of Taiwan’s top 10 PCB companies began to move production to mainland China. This saw a number of Chinese-owned copper foil manufacturers rise to prominence, putting tremendous pressure on the copper foil industry in Taiwan. Taiwan’s copper foil industry went through a long period of difficulty until late 2015, when global trends in environmental awareness and ESG investment led to new sources of demand for copper foil. A supply shortage ensued and once again the copper foil industry returned to the attention of global investors. In this paper, we analyze the commercial evolution of the global copper foil industry and the challenges it faces in responding to global market dynamics, using a leading Taiwanese-owed copper foil manufacturer as a focal point for our analysis. Through SWOT analysis, Five Forces analysis, and the C-SOP theoretical framework, we take both an internal and external perspective in analyzing growth and transformation strategies relevant to the case study company’s pursuit of long-term commercial sustainability.
