Purr-fect Match Café is a cat café that serves quality food and drinks while also promoting the adoption of cats from local shelters. The café acts as halfway home, or foster home, for stray cats from local shelters to help promote these cats to potential adopters while also freeing up space for usually overcrowded shelters to take in more animals in need. The café benefits from the booming popularity of cat cafes and combines it with the urgent need for animal welfare efforts to create a more sustainable yet still profitable cat café business model. The café will be located in Hsinchu, which has had a large growing population as well as the highest income per capita for many years due to being a tech industry hub. With this active population of workers and college students, there is an attractive market of coffee-drinkers and café go-ers. However, it lacks many cat café options, especially ones that allow for adoption. Purr-fect Match Café will take advantage of this gap in the market to become one of the first and most popular cat adoption cafes in Hsinchu. Target market includes women aged 20 to 40 years old, particularly stay at home moms, college students, and office workers who love cute things, interacting with animals, and taking photos for social media. With Hsinchu being easily accessible by bus, train, car, and HSR, this location can also attract customers from other cities interested in experiencing a cat café. This café advocates for the increased awareness of animal welfare efforts and local artisans by allowing them space to spread their message and sell their merchandise. Therefore, the café will attract customers not only through its main draws of cute cats and photo-worthy themed food and drinks, but also through educational promotional events as well as unique, exclusive merchandise. In the operational management of this business, its scale will be kept small with a core staff including the founder/owner, a general manager, and a few part-time employees. It is emphasized in employee culture for staff to be caring, observant, and attentive to café customers and to the cats. The simplicity of products as well as the simplicity of caring for cats allows for fewer employees to be able to handle the variety of tasks needed. The business is intended to be open seven days a week from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Purr-fect Match Café will be self-financed with an initial capital of 1,000,000 NTD from the owner. Start-up costs will mainly be spent to cover rental space, renovations, decorations, equipment, initial supplies, and necessary permits and licensing. After start-up costs, a surplus fund of 172,500 NTD will be used as starting cash for the business. The café has a minimum purchase requirement of one drink. Therefore, the average customer will either buy only a drink or a drink and snack combo; therefore, the average order prices are about 180 NTD or 280 NTD, respectively. Customers also have the option to reserve a private meeting room for 450 NTD per hour. According to forecasts, the business should be able to breakeven within the first year of operation. Overall, Purr-fect Match Café devotes itself to bring happiness and relaxation to its customers while also giving local cats a great chance at finding a loving new home. The long-term vision is to bring more awareness and support to animal welfare efforts in Taiwan. These are issues that are easily overlooked in the craziness of everyday life. Therefore, this café provides a space for customers to learn and experience first-hand compassion and love for these animals and inspire them to take small steps themselves to create lasting change.
