Since 2020, podcasts have sparked a trend in Taiwan. In an era dominated by visual media and saturated attention, Taiwanese podcasters and listeners choose to integrate podcasts into the gaps of their daily lives. Through the production and listening of podcasts, they collaboratively shape this evolving aural landscape. This study begins by exploring podcasters' perspective on managing personal branding and delves into their affective labor and self-disclosure. This continuous process reshapes their self-awareness and gradually establishes their subjectivity. Additionally, podcasts, as a form of counterpublic, expand the boundaries of public discourse. This research also highlights the role of production techniques. The intimacy of podcast sound hinges on podcasters' use of oral expression, recording, and editing techniques to create "uncertainty," thereby eliciting resonance among listeners. Furthermore, from the listener's perspective, podcasts, as a medium for information dissemination, loosen the framework of traditional news media. Additionally, podcasts serve as a source of leisure, fostering interactions that extend beyond parasocial interaction between podcasters and listeners. Their agency generates diverse and dynamic interactive relationships. Nestled into the daily lives of listeners, podcasts provide an ideal opportunity and space for active listening amid busy hands and eyes yet receptive minds. Their existence reflects the collective state of contemporary life.
