This study examines the popular RPG "Genshin Impact," focusing on its incorporation of East Asian cultural elements. The research analyzes two in-game nations: “Liyue” (China-inspired) and “Inazuma” (Japan-inspired), exploring how the game presents East Asian cultures through world-building, character designs, and events. The first chapter examines “Liyue,” analyzing Chinese cultural elements in the character “Zhongli” and events like the “Lantern Rite Festival.” The second chapter focuses on “Inazuma,” exploring Japanese cultural representations through the “Raiden Shogun” character and events such as the “Irodori Festival.” The third chapter takes a broader perspective, exploring "Genshin Impact's" merger of popular and traditional cultures and its societal impact. It analyzes public reception, cultural collaborations, and the game's balance of tradition and modernity in a global context. The research reveals video games' significant role in cultural dissemination and cross-cultural exchange. It finds that "Genshin Impact" enhances its appeal by integrating East Asian cultural elements while offering new possibilities for innovating traditional culture. The study also highlights challenges in representing traditional culture in games. This research provides insights into video games' potential and responsibility in cultural dissemination, demonstrating how digital media can reinterpret and spread traditional culture. To enhance the study, consider expanding on player feedback, assessing cultural representation accuracy, and exploring commercial aspects. Incorporating relevant theories and discussing future research directions would strengthen the conclusion. This research contributes to game studies, cultural studies, and cross-cultural communication fields, illuminating how popular culture reinterprets traditional culture through digital media.
