獨立遊戲製作公司「赤燭」的作品《返校》(Detention),憑藉著優秀的遊戲體驗,獲得大眾的青睞與肯定,在商業取向的市場中取得亮眼的成績,並被改編為小說、電影及電視影集。本文以《返校》遊戲、電影及電視影集為研究對象,從「故事延展」(narrative expansions)和「媒介延展」(media expansions)兩個面向,針對三樣作品在劇情架構、故事內容、上的差異,對《返校》作品的跨媒介敘事(transmedia storytelling)進行研究。分析電影及電視影集的編劇團隊,如何通過不同的載體與表現形式,藉由影像創造出新的環境空間與敘事結構,以及如何依循不同的媒介和故事構想,掌握《返校》遊戲「致自由」的核心想法,對原始故事進行改編。最後在從《返校》跨媒介改編的案例,來看臺灣近年來原創劇本改編趨勢,以及跨媒介的敘事手法,能否讓作品能有更多詮釋的空間,和更豐富的觀點及視角。
Detention, a game created by the independent video game development company “Red Candle Games”, has won the favor of the crowd with an outstanding gaming experience. The game itself has generated a remarkable result in the business-driven market, and has been adapted into novel, movie, as well as television (TV) series. The game, movie, and the TV series of Detention will be the main research subjects of this article, in which we will examine the differences of their plot structures, storylines, and transmedia storytelling techniques with the aspects of narrative and media expansions. The article will further analyze the methods and styles the production teams used with motion picture to create a new distinctive narrative structure and environment.
