Electromagnetic pulse (EMP) produced by lighting or nuclear explosion potentially threats the electronic equipments, which exhibits the increasing importance of EMP shielding to provide proper protection for the equipments. Due to practical application requirement, most of the shieldings exist open apertures that potentially decrease the shielding effectiveness. This project studies the effects due to the presence of the open aperture. In particular, we focus on three major topics: <1> study the effectiveness of currently existing model and interpret it prediction mechanism. <2> develop more accurate model to provide better prediction, and <3> numerically validate the developed models.
