摘要

由IBM、AT&T和摩托羅拉…等多家公司組成VXML(Voice eXtensible Markup Language)論壇，共同合作研發新的互動式語音回覆(Interactive Voice Response，IVR)設計方法，藉由XML制定，讓VXML瀏覽器能將文字或聲音檔以電話語音方式呈現給用戶並可接受用戶的回應訊息。這項技術已成為W3C(The World Wide Web Consortium)的標準，日後開發IVR就如同設計網頁般的容易，不需像傳統IVR，更換不同廠牌語音卡就須改寫程式。對於IVR開發者而言，該技術可縮短開發時程、維運簡便、同時跨平台可攜性高。
本論文主要的目標為設計一套工具，將網際網路豐富之內容，經適當的篩選後，以VXML方法，電話語音回覆給用戶。由於此套工具可將現有網站上適合IVR應用的網頁自動轉成VXML，這將擴大市話的加值服務，帶給用戶便利。對於原網際網路內容供應商(Content Provider) 而言，無須了解VXML語法，就可將內容(Content)擴展到市話用戶。

VoiceXML is a technology standard developed and managed by
VoiceXML Forum, founded by IBM, AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Motorola, with the aim of driving the market for voice-enabled Internet access. The release of the VoiceXML Specification has already been presented to the W3C (The World Wide Web Consortium) for approval, thus developing application programs for VoiceXML will be as easy as those for HTML in the near future. The main goal is to bring about the rich contents of the Internet to the voice services, and enable the users to get the online information through telephones.
