廣藿香及其複方精油在延緩中年女性肌膚衰老之研究

Evaluation of patchouli essential oil and its complex for skin aging in middle-aged women

摘要


中文摘要 皮膚老化的臨床特徵,例如皺紋、彈性減少、乾燥及粗糙,可以 作為一個參數來測量皮膚老化程度和延緩衰老的效果。近年來不同的 輔助和替代醫學(Complementary and Alternative Medicine,CAM)被用來改善皮膚老化,例如芳香療法以精油作為媒介來改善皮膚老化、保濕能力及皮膚黯沈。先前文獻表明廣藿香精油可以預防紫外線輻射引起的皮膚光老化,另外許多坊間書籍也闡明大馬士革玫瑰精油可以延緩皮膚衰老;然而鮮少有人體臨床試驗來驗證大馬士革玫瑰及廣藿香精油對皮膚延緩衰老作用。本研究的目的是通過臨床試驗來闡明廣藿香精油和玫瑰精油對人體皮膚的延緩衰老作用。招募 80 名 45 至65 歲女性受試者,隨機分為廣藿香組、玫瑰組、複方組和對照組等四組。透過皮膚科醫師視覺評估和非侵入性儀器測量來評估使用精油混合油後對皮膚衰老之改善效果。在比較組內之差異的結果分析,除了廣藿香組以外,玫瑰組、複方組及控制組的主觀視覺評估分數在使用後六個月有顯著改善 (P<0.05)。玫瑰組受試者臉頰含水量於使用六個月後有顯著差異 (P<0.05)。玫瑰組於使用後受試者皮膚皺紋(眼部)、紋理(臉頰)及毛孔(臉頰)同樣顯示有顯著改善 (P<0.05);在不同組別之間結果分析,彈性、含水量、經表皮水分散失(TEWL)和 VISIA特徵計數方面無顯著差異 (P>0.05)。綜上所述,玫瑰精油可能對於紋理、皺紋、毛孔具有正向之改善效果,並且相對於僅使用基底油之組別有減緩彈性、含水量降低之效果。玫瑰精油可能為藉由減少紋理、皺紋、毛孔以及透過減緩彈性和提升含水量去改善皮膚老化的外觀達到延緩皮膚老化的效果。

Abstract Characteristics of the aging skin, such as wrinkles, reduced elasticity, dryness, and roughness, are commonly used as key observation parameters to determine skin aging and anti-aging effects. In recent, aromatherapy is one of the complementary and alternative medicines (CAM) and which used essential oils as a medium to improve skin conditions, such as aging skin, moisturizing and skin melanogenesis. Previous literatures indicated that patchouli essential oil can prevent UV radiation -induced photo aging in skin. In addition, many aromatherapy books revealed that damask rose essential oil added in base oil to delay skin aging. However, there is no study to investigate the anti-aging effect in human clinical trials. The purpose of the study is to investigate the anti-aging effect of patchouli essential oil and rose essential oil in middle-aged women through clinical trial. Ages of eighty healthy subjects ranged between 45 to 65 years were randomly divided to four groups, patchouli group, rose group, complex group and control group, respectively. The improvements of skin aging after essential oil treatment in subjects were determined by physician and non-invasive instruments, such as Fitzpatrick wrinkle and elastosis scale, VISIA Digital Skin Detector, Corneometer CM 825, Tewameter TM 300 and Cutometer MPA 580. For comparing the difference within groups, rose, complex, and control group after six-month treatment had lower the Fitzpatrick skin scores (P<0.05), but not found in patchouli group. Rose group after six-month treatment displayed the improvement in skin hydration on cheeks (P<0.05). The feature count of wrinkle in periocular, texture and pores in cheeks in rose group after six-month treatment showed IV significantly improved when compared to before use (P<0.05). However, there is no significantly difference in elasticity, hydration, transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and feature count of VISIA when compared to control group (P>0.05). In conclusion, rose essential oil treatment group can decrease the texture, wrinkles, and pores and also maintain elasticity and moisture to improve the skin aging.
