摘要


此篇論文談論追容在社會裡的意象,現代人如何在未來和無止盡的缺席與死亡相處,面容在這之間扮演連結人群與缺席的媒介。 首先提出現代人將網路當作與人群互動的媒介產生新型態的複調空間,網路的開放性同時給生者與逝者自由發言的平台,逝者在網路受到密集的討論與關注勝過生前,雲端產生的對話與相關資訊有自動生產的特性;再者,人依賴失去的連貫產生戀物與異位疏離的現象。 面容與缺席的概念貫穿整個作品脈絡,我的作品讓觀眾凝視影像裡的面容、閱讀他者的故事與產生異化感將過去的悲傷喚回當下,第四章的新作品對缺席的概念做延伸:同樣具有缺席身份的失蹤者在我們生存的社會徘徊,面容重複出現於網路上的協尋中心與政府機構的尋人海報,面容的擬像與未知生死的身份具有自由獨白之特性,我以創作延異社會失蹤者的特殊身份,用影像與文件的形式建構其失蹤資訊的差異。 本論文架構分五章,第一章緒論;第二章相關作品討論:挑選藝術家之作品對應三個主要概念:影像的面容、影像的未完成性和日常的異化經驗;第三章創作脈絡與論述依過去三件作品分節詳述;第四章針對新作之創作背景、動機與形式分節討論;第五章節總結前四章並提出此作未來發展的可能性。

The thesis talks about the image of searching portraits in our society. How do people get along with endless absence and death in this era? Face act as the media to connect with human and absence. First of all, a new type of polyphonic space. The openness of Internet offers a public access for the alive and the death to speak freely. Their conversation generated in the cloud and relative information has the character of creating data automatically. Furthermore, people are reluctant to cut the relation to absentee. It causes the phenomenon of fetish and atopic alienation. However, we can retrieve the pain by reading others’ stories, staring the faces of them in the images or experiencing the alienation. The forth chapter extends the concept of absence. Gone persons who are considered as the same absent identities as the death linger in our society. Their faces appear repeatedly on the posters from the centre of missing people on the Internet as well as government institutions. There are characters of monologue in their uncertain identities and the simulation of their faces. I try to explore the Différance in missing people’s absence of their lives with videos and documents I made. There are five chapters in the thesis. The first one is preface and I mention three main ideas in the second chapter: faces in moving images, the unfinished characteristic of images and the alienated experience in our daily lives. And then I list some related artists to support it. In the third chapter I discuss three pieces of my work from the past and I address each one in detail. I talk about the motivation behind the new work and its background, form and medium in the fourth chapter. In the last chapter, I summarize the content in preceding chapters and offer a possibility to develop my work in the future.
