摘要
本論文為翻譯Around the World in a Bad Mood! Confession of a Flight Attendant與譯文之自我評析。本書較偏傳記散文類，依Peter Newmark文本類型分類，應具備表述功能之文本。作者敘述手法詼諧，時而口語，時而正式，故事內容生動有趣，翻譯時需兼具作者原有語氣又須顧慮讀者閱讀可接受的程度，故筆者引Peter Newmark所提出之語義翻譯與溝通翻譯為理論基礎，不偏向語義翻譯或溝通翻譯，乃以相輔相成之方式，翻譯此一文本。 本文前七小節主要內容為鋪陳作者成為空服員的過程，包含作者心態轉換，訓練過程等，後三十一小節為作者成為空服員之後工作之經歷，由於前九小節最能符合目前筆者任職空服員經歷以來的心境，筆者以之作為翻譯與自評之題材，期望藉由此一過程，能運用所學翻譯理論技巧及專業知識，提升筆者翻譯能力，並且推廣原著，讓大眾更加了解空服員之心境與工作。

This thesis translates “Around the World in a Bad Mood! Confession of a Flight Attendant” by Rene Foss and analyses translation strategies and method. This book is a biographical work, which, according to Peter Newmark’s Text Typology, is a text of expressive function. This biographical work mixes humorous daily conversational style with serious wording, which requires a translator not only be true to the tone of the author but also understandable to readers. To meet such requirements, this thesis employs Newmark’s theories, semantic translation and communicative translation in the course of translation. The first seven sections of the book describes how Foss became a flight attendant and how her attitude changed in the process of her training. The following thirty-one sections are mainly a record of the experiences in her career. The author of this thesis, being a flight attendant herself, chooses the first nine sections which tell similar job experiences and are written in the style more acceptable to the public, to be the materials for translation and analysis. In addition to introducing the career and experiences of flight attendants to the public, this author hopes to examine the translations skills she has learned from her studies.
