Abstract Linkage Mechanical linkages are a fundamental part of machine design, and yet many simple linkages were not well understood nor invented until the 19th century. In 1864, Peaucellier invented Peaucellier's linkage by using some sticks of fixed distance and pivots. It changed circular motion into straight-line motion. We will introduce some famous linkages such as Peaucellier's linkage and use linkage to draw some curves. Finally, we will introduce some interesting linkages of which the length doesn't change as it get moving.
