菲律賓宿霧與克拉克臺灣遊學者英語學習體驗與分析
The Experience and Analysis of Some Taiwanese English Language Tourists in Cebu and Clark, the Philippines
摘要
在全球化的交流之中，臺灣不可避免的需要與國際社會競爭，在教育國際化觀念的普及下，國人日漸重視外語能力，赴海外學習，以增強語言能力以及體驗異國文化成為風潮。赴菲律賓遊學時間自主且負擔金額較低，成為有工作空檔期的成人選擇提升自我英語能力、增廣見聞與開拓國際視野的新興方式。 本研究採用質性研究，透過半結構式方法訪談10位赴菲律賓遊學者，探究他們的英文學習動機、赴菲律賓遊學經驗的內容以及為遊學者帶來了何種影響。本研究結果發現，成人遊學者基於工具型(instrumental)動機加上價格考量而選擇前往菲律賓學習英文，遊學的情形會偏向以英文學習為主，旅遊放鬆、體驗異國風情為輔，對遊學者而言，赴菲遊學對於他們日後的人際互動、英語能力、自我價值觀以及就業考量等，都產生了潛移默化的改變。

Under the globalization tide, it is inevitable that Taiwan has to compete with the whole world. Under the popular notion of internationalization of education, (Taiwanese) people gradually put emphasis on foreign language abilities. Therefore, it has become a trend to improve language abilities by studying abroad and experiencing different cultures. Due to free time management and lower costs, study touring in the Philippines has become a new option for adults who intend to improve their English abilities, broaden their horizons, and open up their international perspectives. The study applies qualitative research method by conducting semi-structured interviews with ten study tourists that went to the Philippines. This study explores English learning motives, experiences from study touring in the Philippines, and the effects on the study tourists. The findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, due to instrumental motivation and costs reasons, adult study tourists choose to learn English in the Philippines. Secondly, the study tours predominantly focus on learning English, supplemented by traveling, relaxing, and experiencing Filippino culture. Finally, as for the study tourists, study touring in the Philippines influences their interpersonal interactions, English abilities, self-perception, and employment considerations.
