為了因應經濟壓力,「讀書」已經不再是大學生的首要任務,對於「打工」和「課業」兩者之間,產生新的變化。本研究欲瞭解現今大學生的經濟壓力狀況、打工情況,以及打工對課業造成的影響。蒐集中部四所國私立科技及非科技大學,共1364份有效問卷。研究結果顯示大部分的大學生都有經濟壓力,而約六成的大學生認為其他額外開銷是其經濟壓力來源。有八成六的大學生有打工經驗,一成的打工大學生同時兼兩份(以上)打工,且七成六的大學生以校外打工為主。雖然先前研究指出大學生打工對於課業有負面影響,但本研究從大學生角度出發,研究結果顯示超過六成五的大學生都認為應同時兼顧打工與課業,不應該為了打工對課業造成負面影響。而近四成以上的大學生會將課業配合自己的打工時間,避免產生衝突。
In response to economic stress, "reading" is no longer undergraduates’ priority. The association between part-time jobs and academic performance has changed. This study would like to investigate the effects of college part-time employments on academic performance under economic stress. 1,364 undergraduates in two traditional academic universities and two vocational universities of science and technology located in middle Taiwan were surveyed in this study. Results from this study revealed that most college students have the financial stresses. That 86% of the sampled college students have part-time job experience, 10% of them work two or more part-time job at the same time, and 76% of them have part-time job to work outside school. Though previous studies have pointed out that part-time employments have the negative effects on college students’ academic performance, the results of this study found that college students believe that they should uphold the balance between the part-time jobs and their academic performance, not in a loss. It also found that nearly 40% of college students that they will balance university study with their part-time jobs to avoid conflicts.
