中和「緬甸街」的建構過程與文化展演

The Construction Process and Cultural Display of “Myanmar Street” in Zhonghe

摘要


中和華新街又被稱為「緬甸街」,在華新街一帶聚集許多來自緬甸的華僑。來到臺灣的緬甸歸僑,在華新街上開設緬甸料理小吃店,照顧家鄉人的味蕾;建立緬甸歸僑團體,關懷家鄉人的生活。再以舉辦潑水節、點燈節,經由媒體報導廣為臺灣民眾知曉。 本文主要研究內容在於有哪些力量參與將華新街建構為緬甸街的過程?包含政治力量,主要有新北市政府、中和區公所、張慶忠委員與陳錦錠議員聯合辦公室;經濟力量,為華新街上的商家;族群力量,含括居住在華新街區與非居住在華新街區的緬甸華僑,這些力量又以什麼方式著力於其中?來自不同方向的力量之間又是如何拉扯互動?上述力量共同形塑緬甸街,採取的展演元素以飲食、語言、宗教、節慶作為主要呈現的特徵,為什麼選擇這些符號給予觀光客感受緬甸街的地方性?

Huaxin Street of Zhonghe District is also called as “Myanmar Street” for many oversea Chinese from Myanmar settled in the neighborhood of Huaxin Street. The oversea Chinese returned to Taiwan and opened Myanmar cuisine diners on Huaxin District to satisfy thetaste buds of their own people; they also formed an association of Myanmar oversea Chinese to care for the well-being of their own. In addition, the hosting of Maha Thingyan (Water Festival) and Full Moon Day of Thadingyut (End of Buddhist Lent) are well known to the people of Taiwan thanks to the coverage of the media. This essay aims to probe into the issue that which forces helped shape Huaxin Street into Myanmar Street at the first place. These include political force, mainly involved with New Taipei City Government, Zhonghe District Office, and the joint office of Ching-chungChang & Jin-ting Chen; economic force, the businesses on Huaxin Street; community force, composed of the Myanmar oversea Chinese living within and without the neighborhood of Huaxin Street. What were the roles of these forces respectively? What were the dynamics and interaction of the various forces? The aforementioned forces shaping Myanmar Street employ cuisine, language, religion, and festivity as the primary showcase elements. As such, why would they choose these symbols to display the local features of Myanmar Streetfor the tourists?
