本研究以高雄港作為觀察國家與港口發展的場域,時間斷限由1895年日本殖民統治臺灣開始到1975年戰後完成高雄港12年擴建計畫為止。依照時間與港口發展的演變,從政治經濟史的角度觀察高雄港在日治時期與戰後兩個時代中築港的過程與管理的機制,藉以瞭解在不同的時空背景底下國家與港口發展間的關係。另一方面也將觀察國家如何形塑高雄港的意象,以及如何透過高雄港來建構國家認同。 本論文除第一章緒論及第五章結論外,各章節安排如下: 第二章主要探討打狗港在日治以前發展,以及日治時期傳統港口如何近代化。第三章分析戰後的高雄港,如何從戰火後的殘破中走出來,發展成為國際大港?第四章試圖從文化的層面出發,探討政府除了從政治與經濟的面向影響高雄港的發展外,如何在文化的層面形塑高雄港的意象,來獲取民眾與其他國家的認同?
By utilizing Kaohsiung port as a model, my essay aims to analyze the relationship between nation and port expansion during 1895-1975. According to the evolution of time and the development of harbors, I try to observe the process and management of the Kaohsiung port by the political and economic history during the Japanese colonial period and postwar years. Through this research, I can understand the relationship of a nation and harbor under the different time and background. On the other hand, this research also observe the idea that how a country establishes an image and develops the recognition of a nation through the Kaohsiung Harbor. Except the introduction and conclusion, the paper settles as follows: The second chapter is mainly about the development and the modernization of the traditional “Takao Harbor” during the Japanese colonial period. The third chapter analyzes how Kaohsiung Harbor becomes an international one after the depression of the war. Later on, the fourth chapter is based on the thinking of culture which not only discussing how government affects the future of Kaohsiung Harbor under the political and economical issue, but also the way they develop the image of Kaohsiung harbor to get the recognition from their people and other countries.
