在地球上的許多地方,地表上被不同種類的植物覆蓋,像是森林、草原。這些現實世界中的場景,常常會被使用在電影、動畫甚至遊戲中。要用電腦模擬出含有多種植物且如照片般的美麗場景,需要建立細緻的模型物件及複雜的光源計算。因此,大量計算成本且複雜的模型都是必要條件。 在此篇論文中,我們提出了一個簡單方法,透過Ray Casting演算法建造及渲染一個3D的草場。此外,我們藉著採用Poisson-Disk Sampling的演算法,讓草的根部能夠均勻的分布在地表上。由實驗結果顯示,這個原型系統可以合成出如現實般含有大量草葉的自然場景。
In many places on earth, the ground is covered with different kinds of plants, such as forests and grass fields. These real-world scenes are often used in movies, animations, and even games. To three-dimensionally and photo-realistically simulate these beautiful scenes with multiple plants, it is necessary to build detail plants models and calculate the complex illumination effects. Consequently, a large amount of computational costs and hard modeling efforts are required. In this paper, we propose a simple method for modeling and rendering a 3D grass field through Ray Casting algorithm. In addition, by adopting an algorithm of Poisson-Disk Sampling method, the grass roots are nonuniformly distributed on the surface. The experiment results show that our prototype system can synthesize interesting and realistic nature scenes with a large amount of grass.
