The United Nations mentioned in Agenda 21 that education is the key to achieving sustainable development, therefore, countries have begun to integrate sustainable development into education. In Taiwan, most of the research related to sustainable development in high school education focuses on curriculum and teaching, and there is a relative lack of research on textbooks. Therefore, this study selects Civics and Social Studies, which highly related to the goal of sustainable development, as the research object, and uses content analysis method, supplemented by discourse analysis to achieve the following research purposes: 1. Analyze the number and proportion of topics related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the Civics and Social Studies textbooks in Taiwan’s high schools.2. Explore the substantive connotation of paying attention to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Taiwanese High School Civics and Social Studies textbooks. 3. Provide specific suggestions as a reference for educators who use Taiwanese high school Civics and Social studies textbooks. Research results show that nearly 70% of textbooks contain SDGs, among which SDG10, SDG12 and SDG5 appear most frequently, while SDG1, SDG2 and SDG6 appear least frequently. Although there are many contents containing the concept of SDGs in textbooks, most of them are superficial and in-depth, failing to allow students to understand the depth and complexity of the issues. In addition, although these contents are evenly distributed in the textbook, the connection between the various sustainable development goals and the content is not indicated, making it impossible for textbook users to effectively understand the connection between SDGs and the subject content. Based on the above research results, the researchers put forward the following suggestions for reference by textbook publishers and users: Clearly mark the connection between the contents and the SDGs. Strengthen cross-field learning, and combine textbooks with local cases to design cross-field activities
