The prevalence of mobile dating apps relies on the smart handheld devices, which have geolocation and matching. Different from the previous online dating chat rooms, the mobile dating apps accelerate the development of offline relationships. This study aims to explain the phenomenon of Taiwanese users who engage in cybersex on mobile dating apps, in terms of their motivations, uses, and effects. Users who engage in interacting sexually with strangers online, can easily release their sexually hobby, such as: BDSM and anal sex. Also, the anonymity of the dating apps can be viewed as a protective umbrella for self-disclosing the abovementioned topics. The current study divides motivations into four variables, they are: motivations of cybersex, frequency of use, sexual satisfaction, and sociosexuality; uses into two variables: partnered-cybersex, self disclosure in sex; and the effects into three variables: cybersex addict, offline relationship, and transferring to new contact platforms. The research finding shows, male users are more inclined to sexual motivations, whereas female users prefer perceived anonymity, and not be identified by others. Except for sexual satisfaction, motivations, frequency, sociosexuality, and BFI are positively related to the uses of dating apps. Among "sexting", "picture sex", "electronic sex", "sexting" has the highest degree of acceptability, and female users prefer sexting than male users. Moreover, it is found that the uses of mobile dating apps are positively related to cybersex addict, offline relationships, and transferring to other contact platforms. Transferring to other contact platforms can be regarded as intentions to maintain relationships, not only conducting deeper self-disclosure, but paving the way for developing offline relationships.
