影響台灣稻農使用IOT智能解決方案的因素

Factors Affecting the Adoption of IoT Technology by Rice Farmers in Taiwan

摘要


近年來,物聯網已成為所有產業中重要的一部分,農業也不例外。在協助農夫上,它扮演著重要的角色,包含節省成本、提升穀物品質、增加生產力、食物安全性及產量。因為物聯網並非長期為農夫所使用,現階段對於物聯網的定位以及農人們的採用度也是未知的,因此,本研究致力於探討此區塊,透過辨別及分析影響台灣青農採用物聯網的因素及人口特質,確定這些因素的重要性並找出採用的困難點。一份台灣線上問卷調查從2019年十二月底到2020年三月中收集相關數據分析。這些資訊是透過因素分析法及邏輯回歸分析法並使用統計軟體SPSS 及STATA. 透過迴歸分析法的邊際效應來排列影響採用物聯網的因素的重要性。有七個因素被視為會正面地影響稻米耕種採用物聯網裝置的決定: 農場規模、相容性、可試用性、相對優勢、農夫經驗、農夫教育程度及農場銷售總額,其中一個因素,農夫的年齡,被認定為此科技的採用困難點。此研究貢獻於相關農業科技採用的歷史文獻。此理論架構可供其他不同產業在研究科技採用度之因素影響上採用及調整,且此結果有益於激勵相關物聯網之應用研究者更近一步的探討。此結果也可有助於物聯網廠商改善其在稻米種植業的功能以符合農夫的需求。除此之外,此研究發現可支持並幫助立法者建立相關政策及法規,並促進物聯網在農業上的應用。

In recent years, IoT technology has become an important part in all industries, including agriculture. It plays vital roles in assisting farmers in increasing the cost efficiency, crop quality, productivity, food safety and yields. Because IoT technology has started being a part of farmers activities not very long time ago, it is unknown what is its current status and how adopted it is by farmers. Therefore, this study intends to fill this research gap by identifying and analyzing the factors and demographic characteristics having an impact on IoT technology adoption among young rice farmers in Taiwan, determining the importance of these factors and discovering barriers to this adoption. An online questionnaire survey was conducted from the end of December 2019 till the middle of March 2020 in Taiwan in order to collect relevant data for the analysis. The data were analyzed by factor analysis and logistic regression using statistical software SPSS and STATA. The factors influencing the adoption of IoT technology were ranked based on its importance by using marginal effects results of the logistic regression. Seven factors were identified to positively affect the decision to adopt one of the IoT devices for rice cultivation: Farm size, Compatibility, Trialability, Relative advantage, Farmers‘ experience, Education of farmers and Gross farm sales. Only one factor, Age of farmers, was identified as a barrier to adoption of this technology. This study contributes to the empirical literature addressing the adoption of agricultural technology by farmers. The theoretical framework of this study can be adopted and adjusted for studies examining factors influencing technology adoption in different industries and the results can inspire researchers for further study related to IoT technology in agriculture. The results of this research can also be helpful for IoT technology providers to improve the features of IoT devices for rice cultivation in order to meet farmers‘ needs. In addition, the findings of this study can contribute to providing support to policy makers in establishing relevant legislations and standardization and to address other policy areas for facilitating IoT adoption in agriculture.
