Background: Exercise can induce positive emotions and reduce negative emotions. However, can different types of workour programs in the gym may induce different levels of emotional feelings? It is an issue worth exploring. This study is based on the positive emotion expansion theory to explain the impact of fitness exercise courses on participants' emotions. Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to compare the differences in emotional feelings of participants in new types of workout programs, thus to understand the dif- ferences in emotions induced by exercise. Methods: This study adopted a quasi-experimental research design and was conducted in four gyms (includ- ing large chain gyms, medium-sized and small gyms). The researcher recruit- ed a total of 42 subjects and assessed exercise-induced emotions after the ex- ercise. The research tools used the Profile of Mood States (POMS) and the Exercise-induced Feeling Inventory (EFI) to understand the subjects' current reactions to their emotions. Statistical analysis used single-factor analysis of variance and Pearson product-difference correlation to compare the difference in participants' emotions and their correlation between different exercise courses. Results: Researchers compared three types of exercise courses and found that Zumba was more effective than aerial yoga in making participants feel more energetic, self-esteem and positively engaged. All three types of workout programs can give participants higher positive emotions and lower negative emotions; this phenomenon is more ob- vious among middle-aged women. Conclusion: Workout programs in the gym can induce positive emotions and reduce negative emotional feelings in participants, and middle-aged women feel more strongly than young women.
