In recent years, the global tourism industry has grown significantly, with an emphasis on sustainable destinations and improving local communities. This trend is particularly evident in Japan, where the increase in inbound tourists has emphasized the importance of inbound ecotourism and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). This study investigates Yakushima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and analyzes its natural attractions and tourism potential to explore the feasibility of promoting inbound ecotourism. From an ESG management perspective, we investigate sustainable practices such as promoting local communities, protecting the environment, and revitalizing local communities. We focus on ensuring customer value and customer satisfaction to improve customer experience and value. Success in ecotourism depends on collaborative efforts across a variety of disciplines, including environmental assessment, local economic analysis, understanding tourist motivations and behavior, policy formulation, and effective communication. Promoting cooperation between government agencies, local authorities, businesses and tourists will ensure the harmonious achievement of environmental, economic and social benefits, promoting an optimal ecotourism framework for the region.
