The theme of this creative work is "Taichung Old City Strolls," where the creator captures the architectural characteristics, cultural aspects, and street scenes of Taichung's old city district through walking exploration. The aim is to engage more viewers, increasing their interest and understanding of the old city area, or perhaps inspiring them to explore the stories and characteristics of their own surroundings. This project explores street and documentary photography through literature reviews and field research, analyzing the historical context and urban imagery of the old city district of Taichung. Subsequently, it employs photographic and compositional techniques to document the district. It identifies "central and off-central," "grid," "foreground," and "leading lines" as common compositional methods in street and documentary photography. The project, through photography, records the distinct features of Taichung's old city district and is divided into three categories: "Once There," "Witnesses of History," and "Hidden Gems of the Streets." It aims to present a visual record of the city, stimulating viewers' associations and reflections on urban life. In total, 60 pieces have been completed, with 15 each in "Once There" and "Witnesses of History," and 30 in "Hidden Gems of the Streets." This latter series is further categorized into architecture, street scenes, and culture, with the goal of comprehensively presenting the humanistic street views and historical architecture of Taichung's old city district. All works are planned for a physical photography exhibition and to be published on social media platforms for archival purposes. Based on the aforementioned creative methodology, the objectives of this work are: (1) To document the city through photography, faithfully presenting the visual scenes, and capturing the history of the old city district. (2) To record from an urban cultural perspective, presenting the cityscape of Taichung's old city district. (3) To archive and preserve the images through the photography of Taichung’s old city district.
