Cephalotaxus wilsoniana Hayata was Formosan original gymnosperm. The dried stems of Cephalotaxus wilsoniana Hayata were ground and soaked in methanol at ambient temperature. The solution was drained after a 3 day soak period, the residue stems were re-soaked in methanol for 3 days, and the solution re-drained at three times during a 9 day period. The filtered methanolic extracts were combined and concentrated under reduced pressure to a viscous residue. The residue was further isolated and purified by column chromatography, thin layer chromatography and re-crystallization. Ten constituents were found and their structures were established on the basis of spectral analysis and comparison with the literature data. These compounds included β-sitosterol (42), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy benzoic acid (43), 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde (44), (E)-3-(4-hydroxy-3methoxy phenyl) cinnamic acid (45), 4-hydroxycinnamic acid (46), 4-hydroxybenzaldehydre (47), Syringic acid (48), (-)-Epicatechin (49). Among the isolated compounds, (-)-Epicatechin (49) was new found in Cephalotaxus wilsoniana Hayata.
