大同大學WiMAX實驗網之機器對機器通訊研究

摘要


現今的無線通訊系統,已經演進至高速傳輸世代,引領人們走入不需要線材牽絆的生活。其中對無線寬頻技術如(WiMAX, LTE)最大的挑戰是隨時可提供擴展性。隨著越來越多的設備和系統彼此溝通,網絡需要能夠擴展以滿足需求。更複雜的是,在網際網路裡智慧電網會由於不同的需求而產生不同的服務,如何有效地管理如洪水流量般產生的機器對機器傳輸通訊,將是系統服務供應商需克服的難題。 在本篇論文裡,我們以大同大學WiMAX校園實驗網為背景,研究機器對機器通訊(Machine-to-Machine)的傳輸品質。採用的WiMAX服務質量機制(QoS)同時應用在VoIP與智慧電表傳輸上。除了驗證該QoS能確保VoIP應用的傳輸品質,更進一步了解大量M2M裝置同時登入時對網路所造成的隨機存取過載情形。本論文實驗所得到的數據結果可提供WiMAX系統供應商和M2M通訊研究人員參考,以期改善隨機存取過載的影響。

As more and more devices and systems communicate to each other, the wireless broadband networks, such as WiMAX and LTE, need to be able to scale to meet the growing traffic demands. Efficiently managing the flood of traffic generated by Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications will be critical to the service providers. The IEEE 802.16p standard is expected to provide mechanisms for network access from large numbers of M2M devices. This thesis studies the M2M communication in the WiMAX campus network of Tatung University. We choose VoIP as the human-to-human communication, while smart metering acts as the M2M communication. Our experiments verify the effectiveness of QoS mechanism for mixed-typed traffic flows. The random access overload occured during heavy M2M transmission is also studied. The results in this thesis can be a valuable reference for WiMAX service providers and researchers of M2M communication.
