Treatment of impacted tooth is often complicated by inappropriate diagnosis and treatment. There are four types of dental management including observation, intervention, relocation and extraction. Observation implies no treatment for a specific period of time. Intervention indicates the removal of either deciduous or permanent teeth or orthodontic treatment to help impacted tooth erupt naturally. Relocation refers to the repositioning of an impacted tooth surgically or orthodontically. Extraction means to simply remove the impacted tooth. The article is to clearly describe theses treatment methods, and provide the information to clinicians to make the right choice.
