Cellulitis is a diffuse inflammation of connective tissue with severe inflammation of dermal and subcutaneous layers of the skin. Cellulitis can be caused by normal skin flora or by exogenous bacteria. The main bacteria involved in cellulitis are Streptococcus, Staphylococcus (”staph”), E.coli, and Haemophilus. Cellulitis often occurs where the skin has previously been broken. When there is a break in the skin, however, bacteria can enter the body and cause infection and inflammation depending on the condition of immune system. Some clinical cases showed that cellulitis may also be caused by the bacterial infection in body even though there was no break in the skin.
