Crataegus pinnatifida is used mainly for promoting digestion. In recent years, some literatures report that Cretaceous pinnatifida extracts can remove the free radicals. The research is mainly to probe into the scavenging capacity of the l, l-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and the influence on PC12 cell growth for the Crataegus pinnatifida extracts. The results show that the methanolic extract of the Crataegus pinnatifida had the best scavenging capacity of the DPPH radicals. The methanolic extract of the Crataegus pinnatifida can promote PC12 cells to grow, and it possesses the application and exploitation of the neurodegenerative disease for the food and medicine.
